Porto Moniz is a small village located in the north shore of Madeira Island and it’s very well known by it’s crystal clear water natural swimming pools. This swimming pools are actually the result of volcanic activity of the past in the island, created by lava and molded by the sea.
What is so great about the pools at Porto Moniz, besides their natural beauty, is that you can benefit and enjoy the Ocean at Madeira while being safe about the danger of the deep sea and large waves of the northern shore.
Furthermore, there’s also an aquarium in the area, accommodating most of the Madeira species of fish that you can find. It is even open on the weekends, so specific dates to consider booking your stay is not a concern. The visit of the Porto Moniz Aquarium will make for one of the most educating activities you can perform in the island and is also one of the best places to bring your children along, providing entertainment and fun while learning and discovering about the fauna of Atlantic Ocean in the Madeira region.
